About Livarva

An independent publishing imprint and digital library devoted to the Roman Republic.

The Name

Livarva derives from an old Cornish word meaning “library”. The name was chosen because this project is intended to become more than a catalogue of books: it is a place where history, sources, essays, and readers can meet.

Livarva is the publishing home of The Fall of a Republic, a historical trilogy exploring the decline of the Roman Republic through the lives of Sulla, Caesar, and Cato.

The project combines narrative history, ancient sources, modern scholarship, and reflective interpretation. It is designed for readers who want more than a summary of events, and who are interested in the deeper question of how political orders decay.

The long-term aim is to develop Livarva into a digital library of the Roman Republic: a place for books, source notes, essays, maps, timelines, and eventually an AI-assisted guide through the material.
